“White House Down” by German director Roland Emmerich did not raise much expectations in me. An action movie, like all the other action movies. Still, I was hoping to find some originality from Emmerich in this movie.
“White House Down” offers a promising basic situation. Because you have completely taken over the basic situation of the grandiose first “Die Slow” here. Two lovers come into a house, they happen to be separated, the house is taken over by terrorists and they take hostages. Only the protagonist can handle the situation from the inside out, the police have to stay out of the way, because the terrorists have hostages. It starts a guerilla war.
