The number one rule of making low-budget film is to be scenario-based and acting-based and to avoid special effects. Alien Reign of Man has a lot of scenarios under one and a half hours and relies on their performance. It also seems to be made only to see the computer effects that creators can do. It seems like time has come to make special effects as good as possible, but it still needs a bigger budget to rely on CG.
Everything about the Alien Monastery is slow-paced, dialogue and CGI-based. We are thrown into the middle of a film that resembles our own language and story that is expected to be understood. It is similar to the Battlefield Earth setup if it was made with a budget that limits the graphics and action scenes.
